How do I set up a passcode for my Portal TV?

To secure your Portal, you can set up passcodes for your account and device.

Account Passcode

You can use this passcode to authenticate certain actions instead of logging into your Facebook account. Each Facebook account can set up their own password. If you can’t remember your Facebook password, visit the Facebook Help Center.

To set your account passcode:

  1. From Home on your Portal TV, select Settings .
  2. Select Accounts, then select your account.
  3. Select Passcode > Use Passcode, then confirm your login.
  4. Enter your 4-digit passcode.
  5. Re-enter your 4-digit passcode.

To change your account passcode:

  1. From Home on your Portal, select Settings .
  2. Select the Accounts tab, then tap your account.
  3. Select Passcode > Change Passcode.
  4. Enter your current passcode.
  5. Enter your new 4-digit passcode.
  6. Re-enter your new 4-digit passcode.
Note: Account passcodes can not be used to replace your WhatsApp login.

Screen Lock Passcode

You can use this passcode to keep your Portal TV screen locked when it's not in use. The passcode will be required to return to Home from your Portal's display.

While your Portal TV is locked, you won't be able to add additional contacts to a call.

To set your Portal TV passcode:

  1. From Home on your Portal TV, select Settings .
  2. Select Privacy, then select Passcode.
  3. Enter a 4-12 digit passcode for your device, then select .
  4. Re-enter your 4-12 digit passcode and select to confirm your passcode.
  5. Select OK.
