'Hey Portal' and Alexa don't understand me.

This article applies to:Portal+, Portal (Gen 1), Portal TV, Portal Mini, Portal

If "Hey Portal" and Alexa have trouble understanding you:

  • Make sure your Portal's microphone is turned on.
  • Make sure your camera cover is not covering your Portal's microphone.
  • Speak towards your Portal and move closer if necessary.
  • Check to see if "Hey Portal" is available to you.

Currently, “Hey Portal” is only available in English (US/Canada), and will be disabled if you select any language other than English (US/Canada) as your preferred language on your Portal. Learn more about “Hey Portal” availability.
