Electrical Safety

Do not open up or disassemble your Portal for any reason, even when unplugged.

Select an appropriate power source for your Portal AC adapter:

  • Confirm that your electrical outlet provides the type of power indicated on the power supply unit in terms of the voltage (“V”) and frequency (“Hz”). Your Portal AC adapter works when connected to a rated AC power source with 100V to 240V AC at 50Hz to 60Hz. If you are unsure of the type of power supplied to your home, consult a qualified electrician.
  • Do not use non-standard power sources, such as generators or inverters, even if the voltage and frequency appear acceptable. Use only AC power provided by a standard wall outlet.
  • Do not plug multiple electric devices into the same wall socket with Portal. Overloading a socket can cause it to overheat and may result in a fire.
  • Do not touch your Portal or any wires connected to your Portal during a lightning storm.

Only use the included AC adapter with your Portal:

  • If the AC adapter or cord appears damaged, discontinue use immediately and contact customer support for a replacement power cord.
  • Do not use the Portal AC adapter with other devices.
  • Do not pull on the cord to unplug. To disconnect the Portal from power, pull at the plug.
  • To reduce potential trip or entanglement hazards, arrange any cables and cords so that people and pets are not likely to trip over or accidentally pull on them as they move around or walk near the Portal. Do not allow children to play with cables or AC adapter.
